Fish falling from the sky.

It is five o’ clock in the morning on a cold winter’s day.  It is icy cold as I take a walk towards the docks at the waterfront. All of a sudden I see fish falling from the sky. The fish are being thrown from one end to another and packed into boxes for export. These men are up everyday at the crack of dawn to do their duties of packing the fish. This task is not an easy one because the fish are hard and cold and if one doesn’t catch the fish properly, it hits them then they stand a chance of being bruised.

The labourers take turns to go into the fridge carefully wearing garments to protect them from the bitter cold weather and ice that is at extreme minus degrees.  Watching these men doing their work and the fish falling from the sky over and over again reminds me that we can’t wait for fish just to fall out from the sky as human beings. In order for us to eat caviar, salmon and other delicacies from the sea we need to work hard in order to enjoy the fruits of our labour.
