SANTACO airline, a gift from above……

A new airline was recently introduced in the aviation industry run by the taxi association of South Africa called SANTACO flying from Johannesburg and Cape Town to King Williams Town.
The airline initially will focus on routes with high commuter numbers - calculated by the number of long-distance taxis that operate in these regions.
The cost of a one-way Santaco ticket from Johannesburg to Bisho will be about R800
Currently taxi commuters spend about R600 on a single road trip between the two cities. Commuters will be able to purchase airline tickets at a taxi rank, from where they will be shuttled to the airport.
This airline is a real blessing for the people who frequently travel  to the Eastern Cape to funerals, rituals, weddings and other occasions. Thousands die in car accidents on the N1 and this low cost airline will assist in decreasing the death toll on our roads.
The taxi SANTACO  have done well in empowering themselves  and taking their service to the next level.

Why I have conversations?

Conversations that matter are conversations where people are able to speak from the heart, speak the truth whatever it may be in a safe environment where there will not be negative consequences for speaking their mind. This does not mean that people lose responsibility for what they say. Rather, their responsibility increases as respect is a core requirement for a conversation that matters to be conducted.

For a conversation to be valuable to all parties involved the following points should be followed:
1. Be prepared to 'listen to understand' to what is being said, rather than listening to defend/justify
2. Guarantee that no negative consequences will result to people as a result of the conversation
3. Listen more than speak - a good rule of thumb to follow is to speak 30% and to listen 70% of the time
4. Be prepared to ask open questions
5. Judge the quality of the conversation by the level of truth that is present in the conversation

Conversations are an important part of life, through strategic conversations people can build relationships that will make a difference in peoples lives.

Diabetes at the age of 3

It is sad to learn that children as young as 3 can be diabetic. I recently had my first encounter of a young girl who is full of life and has been diagnosed diabetic at such a tender age. I feel so sad that the child will never have a ‘normal’ life and is not allowed to indulge in chocolates, cakes, caramel, ice-cream etc.
Then again, what is a ‘normal’ life? Is it a life of drinking booze, fizzy drinks and partying hard, over indulging in fatty food, cakes and deserts with a lot of sugar and eating a lot of junk as if you will never eat it again?
I don’t think there is such a thing as normal, living a healthy life and eating balanced meals is the way to go. At least this kid will learn to eat healthy and stay healthy from a very young age.
I feel really sad for this little girl who does not even know what it means to be diabetic. It is however a lesson for each and everyone reading this blog, that we should ‘stop die lorry’ and review our lifestyles before our lifestyles catch up with us.
