Service Delivery- A great disappointment

South Africans have voted for a democratic South Africa since 1994 with the hope of being able to receive quality basic services from the government of the African National Congress. For the majority of the country who were under strict apartheid rules who felt the pains of being segregated, tortured and butchered democracy came at a very expensive price.
The ANC has delivered to the millions that did not have electricity, a basic education system, and jobs for all people across the board, pension funds across the board and child support grants for the many who can’t afford to have families. With the implementation of these new systems and an increase in the government fiscal budget to support all people has come values and inequality in the way the government services are delivered.
We have seen many service delivery protests the main culprit behind the failure of services being delivered to ordinary people are people. Our family members and friends across all cultural and colour lines are the ones responsible for corruption, the misuse of funds meant to support resources and people within the community is not the fault of the ANC as a party but of individuals within the party.
To stop the corruption and mal-administration it is the duty of every individual to report a bad service and also to report corrupt people. The question is how many of us actually speak out and report to our family members who squander money that is meant to be for the development of our communities?  On the 18th of May people have the option to vote and speak out if they disgruntled with their local leadership. When one votes on the 18th, whoever they vote for they should hold them accountable.

  1. It is sad to see the state of affairs of our country and the poor are always victims of politics. I think it is better for people to try on their own to rebuild their lives, if you wait for the next person to better your life, you'll wait forever. Unfortunately, fraud and corruption is everywhere and happens in first world countries too.

  2. To hold the government accountable will be a challenge, rather every individual should be responsible to work for his/her family. The truth of the matter is that it's every man for himself. One day when you have your own family, you will have to provide for them and can't rely on government or your neighbours.
