What will my baby look like....

I often sit and wonder what my baby will look like one day. The excitement and feeling of being a father one day is so overwhelming and makes one naive and inquisitive.
I became excited when I came across a website called make-my baby.com and several others that claim that they are able to predict what your baby will look like by merging your picture and your partners online on their website.  (Combine two pics of you and your significant other to see what your kid will look like! www.make-mybaby.com )

With excitement I quickly uploaded a picture of my partner and myself. OOOOHHH NOOOO!!!! :-(
The results were scary!!! LOL!!! Well the moral of the story is I need to be patient and wait till my partner eats ‘baking powder’ and eventually pops after 9 months. Really now, was I so stupid….. Please see the results from the website below.

“Nothing is more dangerous than an idea, when you only have one idea” (Alain).

“Nothing is more dangerous than an idea, when you only have one idea”. There is a lot of truth in this statement, because many people think their ideas are the best and only solution available.

Good Ideas and concepts require of contemplating and reasoning. Ones idea/s is what sets them apart from others. Almost every machine that exists in our world today is derived from man made ideas. Cars, airplanes, buildings and computers are all the outcomes of ideas.

Ideas can be dangerous, for example Hitler thought his idea of killing all the Jews and creating a ‘superior’ type of race in Germany. Due to this idea unfortunately millions were killed in World War II. There are also other historical tyrants who ran their countries with one idea in mind, which has led to many disasters in Africa. The Hitler story in Germany is a prime example of how one idea becomes dangerous.

Ideas are great things to have, because good things come from good ideas, but when there’s one idea and nothing to counter it, that’s when it becomes dangerous.

Gauteng Sheebens Shut Down?

The Gauteng government has made a good and important move towards limiting the number of shebeens in residential areas. The new draft liquor policy suggests that sheebens be moved to areas declared for business activities.
Some people have declared the draft policy as a bad move by the Gauteng government, because many people will lose a lot of money and also it is a risk for the customers because the shebeens will be situated a distance away from their homes which could possibly increase muggings and also car accidents.
I somehow feel for the customers and shebeen owners who will have to adapt to the new laws, but find it a very necessary move if we really want to advance and develop the minds of young kids in townships. Many kids grow up with a loud racket next door to their homes and people smoking, drinking , throwing bottles in their yards. The worst is to pick up used condoms the following morning if not cleaning blood stains or someone’s vomit. Shebeens are a nuisance to many people in townships and have broken many families and left many with no food in their mouth and tears on their eyes. Imagine studying for exams and there is a loud racket next door to your house the whole weekend and everyday when you come back from school. When do you find time to concentrate? In fact many people end up joining the crowd instead of trying to ignore the noise.
I concur with Qedani Mahlangu Gauteng’s MEC for economic developments statement who said to Drum magazine, “ The rise of social ills is a result of excessive intake of alcohol, people do things and end up saying things they don’t remember when they are drunk.” It is time for this same law to be implemented in Cape Townships!

Have you figured out the second head fake?

It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you. I concur with these wise words by Professor Randy Pausch.
Life is like playing a card game sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but if you do all things in good spirit success will eventually come your way. It is imperative for people never to give up. Living one’s life in a modest, but ambitious way may guarantee future success, but in ones ambitions it is important that one never burns their bridges. This reminds of the bible quote:  “Do unto others whatever you would like them to do to you.”
Filling one’s life with positive people and also doing positive things will lead for karma to take care of itself.
Have I mastered the art of the second head fake? Not by a long shot! Being persistent and living a life of continuous improvement will lead me to success one day. It is not about how and when, but it is about getting there!
